Q. When will the season officially begin for practices and games?
A. The first practice sessions will begin February 11th. The first games will be played on Saturday, March 2nd. The season will run until April 13th, with a makeup date of April 27th. This spring there will also be a Rec Tournament May 11th.
Q. When/Where will games be held?
A. Games will be every Saturday, times will begin at 8 am & 9 am depending on the age group. All age groups will play games at Morganton Sports Complex in Southern Pines. U4 Mini Kickers and U6 Future Stars do not have games, instead both meet for one session a week. Future Stars on Saturdays and Mini Kickers for one session on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.
Q. When is the last day to register for Recreation Soccer and how much does it cost?
A. The last day to register for soccer is March 1st, with a Roster Deadline on Feb. 8th. There is a late fee deadline of Feb. 1st at 11:45 PM. $10 Late Registration Fee
Q. Can I make any requests when registering?
A. During the registration process, you may put in for the following requests: training times and training days. **While ACS makes every effort to grant all requests, due to high volume of players with special requests, we may be unable to satisfy every demand**
Q. How are teams formed and players allocated to those teams?
A. Teams are formed randomly before the Fall Season with Practice Time and Practice Day preferences considered for each player. Teams and Rosters will stay together for the Spring Season.
Q. When/Where will practices be held?
A. Practices will be twice a week for an hour. Once a week for U8 players.
Q. How do I know which Jersey to wear? Orange or White
A. Home Teams wear White, Away Teams wear Orange. Every game will have a home team and Away team, this can be found on the Game Schedule Page
Q. Will my child get much playing time even if they have never played soccer before or went to practices?
A. All players will be guaranteed the chance to play regardless of experience or their practice attendances. Players should expect to play about half of the game.
Q. How do I order uniforms?
A. Uniforms will be provided this season. So just make sure to put in the right jersey size during registration.
Q. Can I get a refund for my registration?
A. If the player(s) haven't played a game, then AC Sandhills can issue a refund. If they have played in a game, AC Sandhills would evaluate and give partial refunds accordingly.
Q. When should I hear from my coach?
A. Coaches Must attend the seasonal Coaches Meeting before the start of Recreation Soccer Season. This is when the coaches get their rosters and training schedules. We have the meeting 2 weeks prior to the first session week. All our coaches are Volunteers and have regular day jobs so AC Sandhills asks to give them some flexibility and time to reach out to their players after our Coaches Meeting.
Q. How do I become a Volunteer Coach?
A. AC Sandhills is always looking for coaches to help with teams. Email [email protected] or call at 910-944-9042, to see if spots are available. **Note: Parents planning to volunteer as Head Coaches are not required to pay for their child to play. However, they must register their child for the season before they are eligible to play.**
Q. When registering for Recreation Soccer, can I have my child play up/down an age group?
A. Players may play up in very special circumstances, permission from a Club Director is needed. Decisions will be made with safety in mind. No player may play down into a lower age group.
Q. Can I train/play in game(s) wearing any of the following: jewelry, glasses or cast for broken limbs?
A. Players may wear glasses, at their own risk, but ACS recommend wearing athletic glasses. Jewelry (earrings, tongue/lip rings, belly button rings, wrist bands, etc.) are not permitted. Earrings are not allowed to be taped over; must be taken out. Medical bracelets are allowed but must be taped using athletic tape; face of band can be visible. All hard casts on arm(s) must be covered using padding such as bubble wrap.
